Eswatini Week 2
Monday- ATL Day which means “ask the Lord” and ask what He wants you to do, and who He wants you to talk to. I just ask the Lord to lead me in the direction of those who need to hear or feel the love of Jesus. We found 2 guys that needed food, so we went to a restaurant and bought them a nice warm meal. We also went to the bookstore in Manzini and bought them both a Bible. We later found out we can’t buy people things, but we can give them prayer and teach them about the Lord. The only thing we can do is buy them a Bible if we feel like we should. Overall for the first day of ATL went really well.
For ministry days this week we did a lot of playing with kids, playing soccer with the Teenagers, loving on the kids, and helping the cooks with whatever they need. I led a talk with the teenage boys about the adolescent stage, puberty, and challenges they will face getting through this stage of their life. It went very well, all the young guys were engaged, and were asking lots of questions.
The Care Points we go to and help at are small open land that was built to provide the children in the communities a meal. People that donate over time bring things like extra shelters, small churches and playgrounds. Our care point had all of it, and had a beautiful view of the mountains. Each care point has a Shepherd who usually grows up going to the care point, then when they get older becomes the guardian and watches over the children and handles all the statistics for food and the kids that come regularly. There are also cooks who are usually the elder ladies called the Mage’s or Gogo which means mother or grandmother. They work for free to come every day and cook for 100 plus kids. Our role at these care points are to do bible stories, play sports, play with the little ones, preach to everyone at the care points including the cooks and the Shepherd. My thought throughout my time in Eswatini was love like Jesus loves me!
That week we acted out the Bible story of Jonah, and they absolutely loved it! I played some soccer with the teenage boys. And some of the girls played with the young kids. I got to talk to the cooks about their relationship with the Lord, and it was beautiful hearing their testimonies and hearing how strong their faith is in Jesus!
